The writer Lemn Sissay MBE has a thing about names - as well he might. Taken from his mother after he was born, a social worker decided he would be called Norman. His foster / adoptive parents called him Mark.

He tells the story of reclaiming his name and being reunited with his mother. But he also uses the fact that we all have a name as a writing prompt.

Write about your name. How it came to be your name, what it means, what it meant to those who gave it to you, what images it conjures up, how it was used by different people at different times, whether it fits you, how it feels to hear it in different people's mouths... and whatever else you can think to say about it.

There ought to be at least 500 words-worth there. Who wants to play?
