Some of you might know, I won a City of Poets Tiny Prize with this piece.

City of Poets is a Glasgow-based organisation, promoting opportunities for writers. You can join if you have some connection to Glasgow. Their Tiny Prize is a monthly affair. Write a piece to a set prompt and, if your poem is selected, you win a fiver and the glory!

It might not seem like much, but it's always lovely to be selected and, as they point out, the fiver might get you a celebratory drink. AND... the prompts are a great way to keep you writing (whether you are a member or not, whether you submit the results or not.)

My first 2026 New Years Resolution is to write something for each of the eleven prompts. How about you? You in?

Themes for 2026 are:

February - Reflections March - Painting • April - Through the window

May - Beach • June - Scunnert • July - Magick • August - War

September - Electricity October - Leaves • November - Authenticity • December - Animal Rights

There is NO Tiny Prize for January 2026, a month of rest.
