LIFE VERSUS DEATH AT THE BOTTOM OF A LAKE

This week Mslexia are/were running a workshop on using myth and foklore in our writing.

Coincidentally, I walked past this sculpture last week. It was too far away to get a decent shot. It's by Damien Hirst. It shows the greek Hydra battling the Indian Kali - characters from two very differnt mytholigies doing battle.

The Hydra guards the entrance to the Underworld (in a lake) and Kali is the supreme reality and mother of all life.

Anyone want to speculate why those two would go to war?

Anyone like to mix some other mythologies?
