While we were in Scarborough (Summer 2021), Julie and I went to the Stephen Joseph Theatre to see Home, I'm Darling.

The play, written by Laura Wade, featured a couple who seem to have decided to live life like they were in the 1950s, his boss, her mother, and a another couple as a counterpoint.

We join the story in the middle, the decision having been taken to live like that some time ago. But now, external pressures are having an effect and they have to ask if they really want this - and why!

In the end - in fiction - everything comes down to relationships. And the home is the best place to demonstrate these.

What other lifestyles might be adopted in a similar situation?

"We decided we didn't want to life like everyone else, so we decided to..." What? Push it to an extreme, have something be in danger of breaking, then explore their priorities and what the choice says about them.
