HAD THE CAR NOT

I could have put more work into this. I could have looked at the syllable count. I could have created enough extra examples to find rhymes. But... I was only concerned with capturing a sweet moment as it happened. And the realisation at the end.

If I had set out to write something about getting more cars off the road, the result would probably have been more obvious (and thus easier to ignore) and had less impact, than this observation tacked onto the end of a scene that seems to have nothing to do with cars.
