AS THE WORLD TILTS

Julie and I are hunkered down in the Paddle Steamer in Largs and making plans for the winter. If you were to write about how we humans respond to the longer nights and the wetter weather, perhaps echoing the animal kingdom, what phrases would you use? Looking at the pic, I might suggest "settling for a closer horizon" or "turning on our twinkly lights". What say you, good writers?
